What We Are Doing to Protect you and our Employees from COVID-19, the Coronavirus
1) Our office has always practiced what is known in the medical field as Universal Precautions. These precautions help protect you and us against viruses such as COVID-19, HIV, and Hepatitis B. We practice these precautions on a daily basis and will continue to do so for your protection
2) In order to limit the number of items patients are touching, we are doing a number of things including but not limited to: removing the sign in log and most clipboards from the reception area.
3) We have closed our playhouse for the current time period and look forward to opening it again once the COVID-19 situation is behind us.
4) Our receptionists are cleaning surfaces in the waiting room and elevator every 2 hours with Germicidal Disposable Wipes. These surfaces also include doorknobs and elevator buttons. The reception desk is cleaned after every patient with Germicidal Disposable Wipes.
5) As always, our dental hygienists and dental assistants clean all surfaces including but not limited to the dental chair, dental delivery system, bracket tables and formica tops after every patient. Disposable (single-use) items are used whenever and wherever possible. Blue Barrier Covers are placed on patient light handles and other equipment for the protection of our patients and staff.

Ensuring Safety and Health in Nassau County During COVID-19
At Distinctive Dental Services of New York, P.C., we understand the unique challenges faced by our community in Nassau County during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our commitment to your safety and well-being is unwavering, and we are taking extensive measures to ensure a safe environment for all our patients and staff.
We are closely following guidelines from local government entities such as the Nassau County Department of Health and the New York State Department of Health. These organizations provide us with the latest updates and protocols to combat the spread of COVID-19 effectively.
One of the significant pain points for our patients in the area is the concern about visiting healthcare facilities during these uncertain times. We want to assure you that our office is a safe space. By implementing rigorous cleaning protocols, such as disinfecting high-touch surfaces every two hours and using Germicidal Disposable Wipes, we minimize the risk of virus transmission.
Additionally, we have temporarily closed our playhouse to reduce contact points and will reopen it once it is safe to do so. Our reception area has also been modified to limit the number of items patients need to touch, such as removing the sign-in log and most clipboards.
We know that navigating these times can be stressful, but our team is here to help. Whether you're in Garden City, Hempstead, or any other part of Nassau County, you can trust that we are doing everything possible to protect your health while providing top-notch dental care.
